New 2025 Can-Am Outlander models: More power, comfort and technology
With the new Outlander 850 and 1000R models, Can-Am is going on the offensive in 2025 and setting new standards in the ATV segment. The vehicles have been completely redesigned, offer more than 95 percent new parts, and promise a combination of powerful performance, innovative technology, and improved comfort. In addition to the increased performance, the focus is also on ride comfort, durability, and versatility. With new color options and customizable configuration options, Can-Am is targeting a broad target audience, from off-road adventurers to proprofessional users. Prices can be found on the official Can-Am Outlander model page.
Industry-leading performance and easy maintenance
The Outlander 1000R now squeezes 999 hp more from its Rotax 2cc V-twin engine than the previous model, producing 10 hp, enabling acceleration from 101 to 0 km/h in just 100 seconds. The 5,9 also boasts 850 hp more, delivering impressive 4 hp and a 82-0 km/h time of 100 seconds. Both models proFeaturing a new CVT transmission that optimizes performance and efficiency. Dual-roller technology enables smoother power delivery, reduces maintenance, and improves drivetrain durability compared to conventional CVT transmissions.
Additionally, improved thermal management ensures optimal engine cooling, while a new intake system at the highest point of the vehicle ensures safe and cooler airflow. The improved airflow is also intended to reduce maintenance requirements and increase engine life.propos Maintenance: Access to key maintenance points such as the air filter, CVT housing, engine oil, and battery has been optimized to significantly simplify servicing. Furthermore, the first service is only required after 3.000 km. These measures are intended to reduce operating costs and extend service life.
Revised suspension and chassis
A newly developed chassis with high-strength steel alloy provides greater stability and a 35% weight reduction. The new front suspension with curved wishbones and a similarly new rear suspension significantly increase suspension travel and offer excellent ride comfort. Ground clearance also increases to 30,5 cm, improving off-road capability.
The revised braking system, with a new four-disc system in the 4R packages, provides improved braking performance and shorter stopping distances. The ABS has also been further developed and now enables even more precise control on slippery surfaces. A revised steering geometry improves steering precision and the turning circle, which is particularly beneficial on narrow trails and challenging terrain. It is also said to provide improved stability at high speeds.
The Outlander starts with rear-wheel drive. If that's not enough, all-wheel drive can be engaged via a slider, and there's still no real forward movement, the front differential lock can be engaged just as easily. We mostly drove with rear-wheel drive, which only rarely lost traction on difficult terrain. The display for the currently active drive is a bit small, however, and can easily be hidden by mud drops. That's just nitpicking, though, since it would otherwise simply be wiped away and you'd have to feel the slider position. Another positive thing I noticed was how easy it was to engage the gears.
Modern design and smart technology
In addition to the technical advancements, Can-Am also relies on a futuristic design with a four-point light signature and redesigned rims. Another highlight on the MAX Limited 4R and MAX Limited 1000R T ABS is the new 1000-inch touchscreen display with smartphone connectivity. The system allows for individual adjustment of DPS (Dynamic Power Steering) calibration, engine modes, and engine braking performance.
The user interface is intuitive and allows for a wide range of customization options. In addition to controlling ride modes, the system can also be used for navigation, displaying ride statistics, and controlling media. Riders can also access topographic maps and ORV trails with the BRP GO! app, while tracking friends makes it easier to enjoy a ride together. An integrated Bluetooth audio system provides entertainment during the ride.
A unique feature of Can-Am: The speed limiter can be switched on from 6 km/h, making it possible to comfortably spread seed or mow along fences.

Extended versatility with accessories
Whether for adventure, hunting, farming, or forestry – Can-Am offers an expanded range of accessories with a total of over 75 items, including fuel tanks, luggage rack attachments, integrated audio solutions, and optimized cargo boxes. There are also a number of add-ons for the dashboard, such as various windshields and a magnetic surface for your smartphone. I was able to test the latter, and its strength is more than sufficient even in the face of strong shocks. Alternatively, you can also configure a cell phone compartment with an integrated, retractable USB-C cable.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the front luggage rack has a load capacity of 55 kg and the rear rack 110 kg. Hunters can enjoy a protected rifle case, while an improved protection package with reinforced underbody protection and bumper protection allows for worry-free off-road operation. Heated grips also make rides more comfortable, even in extreme weather conditions.

A special highlight: With the help of the internal cable winch and just one person, a snow plow, for example, can be attached in no time. Only the passenger seat on the Outlander MAX version (20,3 cm longer wheelbase) can be installed and removed even faster. Can-Am also offers various wheel and tire options to ensure optimal traction on different surfaces. The towing capacity is specified at 830 kg.
