Polestar 4 review: The first impression

The Polestar 4 was officially presented several months ago. Now the car will be presented again in Austria, including at the Polestar Space in Graz, before the first deliveries in Europe. I could look at him there.

Polestar calls the Polestar 4 an “SUV coupé”. “SUV” should stand for the space inside, while “Coupé” refers to the sporty shape and features such as the frameless windows and side mirrors. Even if the basic shape does not yet have any other model from the company, you quickly realize that you are dealing with Polestar here. This becomes clear, among other things, in the design of the headlights, the very present logo on the frunk and the headlight bar on the back.

Once you sit down inside, three positive things stand out. The first noticeable thing is that there are almost no buttons that are visible at first glance. The only one is the play-pause button in the center console, all the others went to the ceiling in front of the rear-view mirror or to the infotainment. The low beam can also only be controlled via the display.

At the demo in Polestar Space I was able to sit in the back seat first. And wow, there really is a lot of space here! Before things get tight for passengers in the back, the front passenger and driver can no longer move their seats back any further. And the last positive point in the interior is the materials used. Hard plastic is hardly found at all and everything feels incredibly high quality.

A special feature: There is no rear window

When you look in the rearview mirror for the first time while driving, you will notice that you only see a camera image. This is because the Polestar 4 has no rear window and what is seen in the mirror is captured by a wide-angle camera on the roof. This means there will be up to three lanes on the motorway proYou can see without any problems and when you turn on the indicator, the viewing angle swings in the corresponding direction. And if you do want to see what's going on in the back seat while you're driving, the camera image can be deactivated with a flick of the wrist and you have a conventional mirror again.

Im Hyundai IONIQ 6 I wasn't a fan of the camera side mirrors. So I'm excited to see how I'll get along with it while driving. However, the image quality left a positive impression.

Technical information

The Polestar 4 comes in two different versions, one as a “Long Range Single Motor” and another as a “Long Range Dual Motor” model. In all variants, the 400-volt battery has a capacity of 100 kilowatt hours. The range for the “Long Range Single Motor” version is 620 kilometers (WLTP), while for the “Long Range Dual Motor” option it is 590 kilometers.

Depending on the model, the Polestar 4 has an output of 200 kilowatts (272 hp) or 400 kilowatts (544 hp). The maximum speed is 200 kilometers pro cordoned off for an hour.

Thanks but are there more photos please? From the display in the middle, for example. Has it stayed the same?
