AVM presents new fiber optic & 2024G routers, mesh accessories and smart home products at IFA 5

AVM has expanded its product portfolio for fiber optic and home networks at IFA 2024. With the new FRITZ!Box routers, repeaters and smart home products, the Berlin-based company is showing that it continues to focus on future-proof technology and innovative solutions. We have an overview of the new models.

These days the IFA 2024 in Berlin – one of the largest technology trade fairs in the world. This also means showtime for AVM, where some new products will be exhibited. In this article we take a look at the new products from AVM at IFA this year.

New FRITZ!Box 5690 and 5690 XGS: Flexibility for fiber optic connections

The FRITZ!Box 5690 will celebrate its premiere at IFA 2024. It is specially designed for fiber optic connections (GPON/AON) and offers users the opportunity to start surfing straight away without additional hardware. Equipped with two 2,5 Gbit/s and two 1 Gbit/s LAN ports, the model is particularly suitable for wired home networking.

For users of particularly fast 10 gigabit connections, AVM offers the FRITZ!Box 5690 XGS. This model supports the new XGS-PON fiber optic standard and achieves the highest speeds in the home network via 10 Gbit/s LAN and four 1 Gbit/s connections. Both models use Wi-Fi 7 and enable fast and stable wireless connections.

Also new is the FRITZ!Box 4690, which is characterized by its flexibility. The router can be proIt can be easily connected to existing modems and achieves speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s. Thanks to the Wi-Fi 7 standard and dual-band functions, the FRITZ!Box 4690 offers data rates of up to 6,9 Gbit/s in WLAN operation.

FRITZ!Box 6860 5G: High-speed Internet via mobile network

In addition to fiber optic solutions, AVM is also expanding its portfolio in the mobile communications sector. The FRITZ!Box 6860 5G offers fast Internet connections via 5G and LTE with speeds of up to 1,3 Gbit/s. With support for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Voice over New Radio (VoNR), the 6860 also offers a solution for rural areas or as a flexible alternative to wired connections.

With the FRITZ!Repeaters 1200 W7 and 2400 W7, AVM is introducing two new WiFi repeaters that extend the home network and use Wi-Fi 7. They ensure stable coverage, even in the most remote areas of a household. Both repeaters are seamlessly integrated into the FRITZ! Mesh system and enable speeds of up to 6,4 GBit/s (2400 W7) or 3,5 GBit/s (1200 W7).

The mesh sets, such as the FRITZ!Mesh Set 3000 Wi-Fi 6 and 1200 Wi-Fi 6, enable flexible expansion of the Wi-Fi network and ensure strong coverage in every corner of the house. They are compatible with FRITZ!Boxes and other routers.

FRITZ!Smart Energy 250: Efficient energy management

New to the smart home portfolio is the FRITZ!Smart Energy 250, a power sensor that is attached directly to the digital electricity meter. This makes it possible to monitor power consumption and optimize energy costs. The sensor connects to the FRITZ!Box via DECT and provides consumption data in real time.
