E3 2018: These were the highlights of the gamer fair [with game awards]

[Update: With game awards] A few days ago the E3 2018 game fair in Los Angeles slowly but surely came to an end. Also this year some interesting things were presented. A summary of the highlights.

Sony

The Sony event took place in a tent this year. That went well with the first game that was introduced: The Last of Us - Part 2.
The trailer of this game also showed the main characters in a tent at the beginning. It's pretty quiet there at the beginning, but it gets more exciting over time. For many gamers it will be a big plus that the developers have implemented a multiplayer mode again. However, there is currently no precise information on this. It is only known that the mode will be called “Faction Mode”.

Death Stranding made a rather strange impression on me. This is an adventure with a pretty unusual story, but one that causes a lot of amazement and some question marks. It is currently only clear that there is the main character Sam Bridges. This is a kind of postman who transports all kinds of deliveries through a surreal future world - and often loses a load or injures himself in the process.
Ghost of Tsushiama is another keynote title that is a samurai adventure. This game takes place in a huge Japanese open world, where attention was paid to high details in the graphics. Because this is a samurai adventure, it is obvious that the characters are often drawn into combat.

Microsoft

There is a lot at stake for Microsoft at this year's E3. After all, they are far behind Sony with their sales of the XBOX.
That's why the new Halo Infinite was introduced first. This is another offshoot of the famous action game series. Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice, an action-packed role-playing game, was then shown.
Forza Horizon 4 is sure to be a delight for many too. There are now new tracks in Great Britain, a new Shared World has also been introduced: players who compete online will all ski on the same track in a huge open world, and under the same conditions everywhere. But what do I mean by "under the same conditions"? In Forza Horizon 4, the weather, time of day, and time of year can change. This should make driving even more real.

Nintendo

Nintendo also came to E3 in Los Angeles with some interesting new titles. The first is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In this game you can find all the already known characters with two newcomers, which would be the Inkling from Splatoon and Ridley from the series of Metroid games. From now on 8 players can take part in a fight at the same time.
Super Mario Party goes into the next round, but this time on the Switch. Four different players can still take part in a party. Unfortunately, there are very few really exciting innovations. One would be that in tablet mode you can connect several consoles to one another in order to enlarge the virtual playing field. This partly works in mini-games as well.

Pokemon: Let's GO Pikachu and Let's GO Eevee are pretty unspectacular in my opinion. There are no real fights, nor can you go looking for new Pokemons. The rearing of the animals is no longer integrated in the games, leveling up is only possible by finding more animals.

Other game highlights

In the following I would like to mention a few more games that also got my attention. The first is FIFA 19. EA was able to secure exclusive rights for this year's offshoot, which means you can play the Champions League as your own mode, for example.
Battlefield 5 is also an offshoot of a well-known series of games. Players will now have free access to all new content, such as multiplayer maps or modes. In addition, the game mechanics have been revised, including the sluggishness of the individual characters and the fact that there is always insufficient ammunition available for fights. It is therefore advisable to work with the so-called squad as often as possible.
The Crew 2 is another racing game that debuted at E3 in Los Angeles. Here, too, there is an open world that you can drive through with different vehicles. Including speedboats, motorcycles, sports cars and airplanes. Also, there are different game modes, two of them are the street racing and the Prodriving.
Cyperpunk 2077 is an RPG set in the modern Night City. Because the graphics of this game are above average, one expects that it will not be able to play properly on the PS2020 or the new XBOX with the better hardware until autumn 5.
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is the sequel to the famous Assassin's Creed: Origins. In terms of game mechanics, the title is very similar to its predecessor. The only notable difference is that the game has now been set to ancient Greece.
