In November 2020, Google Pay will be in Austria gestartet - So far, however, it has not been possible to use the service with the Wear OS Smartwatch. That is changing now. Google activated the option in nine other countries, including Austria.

Apple Pay with the Apple Watch, Fitbit Pay with the Fitbit tracker - all of this has been possible in this country for a long time. Only Google took its time with Google Pay and the Smartwatch. Now you can also pay with your own Wear OS watch.

Pay with Google Pay on the Wear OS Smartwatch in Austria - that's how it starts

You don't have to do anything to get started. Possibly check the app again for an update or, if in doubt, restart the smartphone and the Wear OS watch. And yes, the info is so new that Austria is on the German help page Google doesn't even appear. But if you look at the English support page Austria appears there alongside other new countries. Of course, a corresponding payment method must be set up in the Google Pay app on the smartphone in order for it to work.
