Yesterday Apple held its annual WWDC 2017 developer conference. In addition to new software, there were also some new devices to be seen here. We have summarized all the important information from yesterday for you.

As every year, Apple holds its developer conference for AppleProproducts. This is where developers and editors from all over the world come together to marvel at the innovations. The fact that Apple has also presented new devices here is new this year. We'll take a closer look at all the details in the following paragraphs.

New software: iOS 11, macOS High Sierra, watchOS 4, and tvOS

Apple has again given some services major updates this year. IOS 11 and macOS High Sierra are brand new. In addition, the Apple Watches and Apple TV received some innovations. We'll take a closer look at these.

iOS 11: Design changes and numerous new features

We start with the biggest innovation: iOS 11. This year Apple is making some design changes in the control center and in the App Store. Siri now also speaks more clearly and can now translate speech. In addition, Apple proudly presents the install rate of 96 Procenter of the predecessor iOS 10.

Siri can now translate and speak more clearly

Apple's KI Siri has been given a new voice as a big innovation for a long time. This should enable her to speak more clearly and thus be better understood. The user should also be better understood through some improvements. In addition, Siri can now search in multiple languages without having to switch between them. This is useful when you want to translate something. Chinese, German, English, French, Italian and Spanish are currently supported in the translator - and speaks directly from this language.

Siri should be able to understand coherent context more easily in the future and have to ask less questions. In addition, Siri is now also active in the background. The voice assistant constantly scans for new terms and remembers the content viewed by the user. In this way, the AI can give even better answers. You have to decide for yourself whether you really want to do that.

New design: the control center and app store are being refreshed

The control center has been given a new touch with a few changes. Similar settings have now been summarized and packed on one page. You can now call up additional settings by pressing a symbol for a longer period of time - but an iPhone with 3D Touch is required for this. It also has new buttons for brightness and volume.

The App Store is also getting a complete makeover in terms of design. This is now divided into several tabs - when you open it you end up in the "Today" tab. There are also the "Games" and "Apps" tabs. The “Updates” and “Search” buttons remain.

Updates for ApplePay, Apple Music, CarPlay, iMessage, HomeKit and Maps

Last but not least, the company has given some in-house apps a few useful updates. In ApplePay you can now send transfers directly to friends - in principle you can send and receive money like with PayPal. However, this is currently not possible with us because the service has not yet started in this country.

Apple Music is now becoming more connected and now shows recommendations and public playlists from its friends. CarPlay now has a new do not disturb mode called "Do not disturb while driving", which automatically deactivates social communication while driving. Meanwhile, he automatically sends messages to friends who write to you that you will only be available later.

IMessage also has some small but practical functions. The in-house messaging service is now always synchronized with the iCloud. This means that personal messages can be called up from anywhere and from any device and are always up-to-date - practical. The storage space on the device is therefore no longer used. IOS 11 finally has a file manager called "Files" on the iPad. This constantly searches the device for files and displays them clearly.

Other changes in iOS 11 are: screen recording, sharing of WiFi passwords, a one-hand keyboard, Facetime Live Photos and automatic password entry for apps.

iOS 11: for which devices?

Specifically, all devices will be supported from 2013 onwards. This means that all iPhones from iPhone 5s and iPads from iPad Air 1 are supported. Older devices such as the iPhone 5 are no longer supplied with the update because they cannot be 64-bit only. However, this is necessary because Apple is discontinuing 11-bit support with iOS 32.

The update will be available for all compatible devices from autumn 2017 via OTA update. Developers and beta testers can officially test iOS 11 in the coming weeks.

macOS High Sierra 10.13 is official: with a boost for Safari

Apple's several macOS operating systems are also in the foreground. This is now going into the next round with macOS High Sierra - with a decent speed boost for the Safari browser.

Safari blocks self-playing videos and improves user privacy online

According to Apple, Safari in High Sierra is said to be the fastest browser on the market. Thus, the Apple browser would overtake Google's rather popular browser. In addition to performance, there are also some new features for the Apple operating system. Safari should now be able to block automatically playing videos on the net - whether this really works reliably remains to be seen. Some improvements in the browser are also intended to improve the privacy of the user on the World Wide Web.

New APFS file system and minor updates

In addition to iOS, High Sierra now also receives the new one APFS file system. This should also ensure better performance on the mac and make crashes less frequent. Smaller updates are still available in the iMessage, Mail and Photos applications. Messages in the in-house messaging service are now synchronized with the iPhone more quickly. The mail app now has a two-part view for a better overview and should now save storage space for mails. In the Photos application, face recognition for names has also been improved and is now synchronized with the iPhone via iCloud.

watchOS 4: new, smart Siri watchface and improved fitness features

Tim Cook proudly presents the new functions of the Apple Watch, the bestseller on the smartwatch market. Unfortunately, there are no major innovations in this update.

Siri gets its own watchface

All that is new is a new, smart watchface. With this Siri gets its own watch face on the Apple Watch. This always provides the user with the latest relevant information on a daily basis. One hour before an appointment, Siri can show information about the upcoming appointment on the display. The weather of the current location can also be displayed. HomeKit is also integrated into Siri on the watch. If it gets too hot in the house, the scene for closing the blinds should be automatically suggested.

Fitness features: improved swim mode and sessions

The focus of the Apple Watch is of course on the fitness of the user. Now there are monthly challenges that are intended to encourage the user to do more sport. In addition, Apple is improving the swimming mode. With watchOS 4, this now recognizes attacks on the edge of the pool. There are also now the so-called "sessions", where you can combine several workouts into one.

Apple TV with tvOS: Apple enters into partnership with Amazon

With tvOS 2.0, the AppleTV's own operating system has only received one major change. Content from Amazon Prime Video can now be played on the Apple TV in addition to Netflix and Co.

Amazon Prime Video: now also on Apple TV

So far there has not been a usable, comfortable app for streaming on the Apple TV. The simplest solution should be the integration of Amazon Prime Video in tvOS. Buying and streaming series should also be possible here, as with Amazon. A time for the start of the offer was not mentioned at WWDC: we expect a release for iOS 2017 in summer 11.
