Philips Hue down: Control via app and Alexa not possible in some cases

Image: Philips
(Post picture: © 2019 Philips)

At the moment, Philips Hue seems to be down. In some cases, the control of the lamps in the app does not work this way - the light can of course still be switched on manually.

There seem to be problems with Philips Hue for a few minutes now. The Philips app is specifically affected, both on Android and iOS. Alexa is also not currently working in conjunction with Philips Hue. On both platforms, it is not possible to control your own lights in your own home. I was able to reproduce the problem and am currently unable to operate the lights in the app. However, if you connect to your own WiFi, you can still control it (as it is local).

Philips Hue down: We are already working on the fix

If you are currently at home, you have no problems. However, if you want to control your lights when you are away (assuming you have set up this function) or are not connected to your own WiFi, you have to use the Philips servers, which are currently causing problems. In the app, you will then see the error message "Connection not possible". Controlling with Alexa is also not possible at the moment. Here you will receive the error message: "The device is currently not responding".

Philips has already reacted and is working on the interference suppression:

Update at 19:42 pm: The problem seems to be solved (at least with the Philips app)

Your own fault if you have to buy something ... * hehe *
I turn my lights on and off using the light switch 24/7 without any problems.
