The POCO F3 was one of the strongest smartphones for its price last year. It brought a lot of the hardware of the typical flagship smartphones into the sub-$300 range. Now the group has presented a successor, the POCO F4.

On paper, however, the changes are not very large. In addition to the new design, there are small changes in some areas compared to the strong predecessor. We have all the information.

External

From the outside, the POCO F4 is the European version of the Redmi K40s previously unveiled in China. In terms of optics, we get a smartphone with a new camera arrangement, the most important lenses have been highlighted in one plane and arranged in a round way. The model is available in three colors: grey, black and green. With a display diagonal of 6,67 inches and a weight of 195 grams, it is similar in size to its predecessor, although the frame has now also been flattened in line with the new trend. We already know that from the Redmi Note 11 series and ensures that the feel in the hand is significantly chunkier.

Like its predecessor, the POCO F4 has a Samsung E4 AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6,67 inches. It resolves with Full-HD Plus and supports the HDR 120+ standard in addition to a refresh rate of 10 Hertz. The brightness can be up to 900 nits peak in sunlight and up to 1.300 nits peak in HDR content. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is only interrupted with a small cut-out for the front camera, the hole is extremely small with a diameter of 2,76 millimeters, as with the POCO F3.

Internal Specifications

Like the predecessor, the Snapdragon 870 works inside Proprocessor. It's still a slightly upgraded version of the Snapdragon 865 Plus, but like the Xiaomi 12X comes with the disadvantage that it no longer supports many Android updates. The delivery software is Android 12 with MIUI 13 and the POCO Launcher. The smartphone also starts with just six gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of mass storage. Both here and at Prozessor, the lower-positioned POCO X4 GT, introduced together, is better.

The battery in the POCO F4 has a capacity of 4500 mAh and can be charged with up to 67 watts. According to official manufacturer information, it takes 38 minutes to fully charge. through the Prozessor, the device supports both the 5G mobile communications standard and Wi-Fi 6.

On the camera side, a main camera with 64 megapixels is used, which this time is supported by optical image stabilization. It should help improve the user experience and ensure images with more clarity when shooting at night. However, the sensor is smaller than the POCO X4 GT at 1/2 inch. It is supported by an ultra-wide-angle camera with typical eight megapixels and a 119-degree field of view. This is joined by a low-resolution macro camera.

Difference to the POCO F3

If we compare the POCO F4 to the POCO F3, we actually see very few changes. From the visual point of view, the smartphone has a new design, but the most important aspects, such as the consumer experience, the ProThe processor and the battery have remained identical. Only charging was faster at 67 watts compared to 33 watts in the POCO F3 and the main camera now has optical image stabilization in addition to a slightly higher resolution. That was all the differences. Even if the POCO X4 GT is not quite as good in areas such as the display, it should also be noted that it already starts with more RAM. It also offers a better main camera sensor and also when Proprocessor and the battery also offers an advantage.
