Update from Sunday, 25.02.2018/12/02 at XNUMX:XNUMX pm

Just a few hours before the official presentation, Samsung probably leaked the S9 and S9 + completely in a video that was published too soon, even if it only presented the business features. Nevertheless, this video confirms almost all the leaks in the last few weeks. The video shows the Galaxy S9 from all sides. In addition, the rumor that there will be a dual camera, which will only be reserved for the S9 Plus, is clearly confirmed here.

The video mainly introduces the Knox functions for business customers. If you don't have patience until tonight, feel free to watch the video. Attention spoilers! We also have here all the livestreams for the unpacked event tonight collected.

Update from Tuesday, 20.02.2018/11/54 at XNUMX:XNUMX am

In fact, both upcoming devices from Samsung have now gone online too soon ProProduct page leaked, which Roland Quandt from WinFuture discovered.

It is now clear that the design will not change much compared to last year. Only the lower edge of the smartphone seems to have turned out to be a little smaller in the pictures. Samsung has completely dispensed with a notch. All important sensors and the front camera were installed above the display. The front frame remains black, it doesn't matter which of the three colors you chose at the time of purchase. Apropos Colors: The Galaxy S9 (Plus) comes in Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple.

According to this, Samsung has the displays Pronot changed on the product side, they are 1:1 the same as in the previous models. With the camera, it should really be the case that the Galaxy S9 got a simple camera while the Galaxy S9 Plus had a dual camera installed. As mentioned below, both devices are supposed to be 12MP sensors that can automatically switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4. In addition to the specs for the cameras, it was also revealed that both devices received stereo speakers, which were coordinated in cooperation with AKG.

In terms of general specs, as we suspected, the smaller Galaxy S9 is weaker than its big brother. Instead of 6GB of RAM in the large model, the small one only got 4GB. For this, the internal memory in both devices should be 64GB. According to the leaks, this can still be expanded with a microSD card up to 400GB. With 3000mAh or 3500mAh, the batteries do not change compared to the previous year. The installed software should be Android 8.0 with the Experience UX 9.0.

Update from Sunday, 18.02.2018/22/11 at XNUMX:XNUMX pm

Only seven days until the release of the two new Samsung smartphones. A Reddit user has reportedly been able to turn off both devices, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9probeer He had the opportunity to test the video function of the main camera. According to him, it can record videos at 4K and 60 frames per second. If you want a higher refresh rate, you simply have to lower the resolution. According to the tester, there was no 1000 FPS mode. But he also said that his test device was still a pre-production model.

Another user who was also able to test the phones found out something about the 3D emoji feature. This should only resemble the Animojies from Apple very weakly. The 3D emojis are supposedly a mixture between Snapchats Bitmojis and the aforementioned Animojis.

Update from Tuesday, 14.02.2018/07/18 at XNUMX:XNUMX am

Samsung now apparently wants to copy a fairly popular feature of the iPhone X: the Animojies. According to some leaks, these are called 3D emojis on Samsung. This means that with the Galaxy S9 (Plus) it will then be possible to transfer the facial expressions recorded with the front camera to an emojie and then to send it via a messenger. Because a very precise front camera has to be installed because of the feature, it can also be assumed that Samsung is implementing something similar to FaceID in its software.

Now Evan Blass has leaked an accessory for the new Samsung smartphones: the new DexPad. For those who do not know exactly what Dex is: With the Dex station, which is currently available, you can convert your Note 8 or Galaxy S8 (Plus) into a PC replacement. According to the render image, the DexPad should have the same connections as the Dex station, including an HDMI port and an Ethernet connection. On the leaked render you can also see another detail of the Galaxy S9 (Plus) itself: a headphone plug was installed.

Appearance and displays

The leak expert Evan Blass has information and pictures on the look of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus Website released. According to him, the appearance of both devices should remain largely the same. This is primarily due to the fact that Samsung only introduced a completely new design last year. The edges to the right and left of the devices should be slightly rounded again, whether the edges above and below will be smaller is unclear. The back could change the most compared to its predecessors. The fingerprint sensor is said to have made it under the camera, just like with the A8 2018, which makes it much easier to reach. It is also assumed that the Galaxy S9 Plus will have a vertical dual camera, which I will get to later.

The sizes of the displays should remain the same as last year. This means that the smaller S9 could have a 5,8-inch OLED display, while the larger S9 Plus could have a 6,2-inch display, also OLED. Information on the resolution of the displays is not yet known, but it is assumed that this will be pretty decent with QHD +. In addition, stereo speakers are said to have made it into the devices for the first time this year.

Camera

As mentioned before, the camera for Samsung will be the focus of attention this year. The resolution will probably stay the same at 12MP. A mechanical aperture should be used for the main camera, which can automatically switch between f / 1.5 and f / 2.4 depending on the light situation. Samsung could have installed a normal aperture on the second lens of the S9 Plus. The autofocus is said to have been further improved, just like the recording of videos.

This should be possible with the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 Plus in super slow motion with Full HD with 480FPS, comparable with the current iPhones, and with HD with 960FPS, comparable with the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. The resolution of the front camera will most likely be 8MP.

Specs and software

Samsung will almost certainly install Android 9 Oreo on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S8 Plus. According to rumors, there will also be a user interface exclusive to the S9, which could be called Experience UX 9.0.

As the ProThe new Snapdragon 845 from Qualcomm is to be installed in the USA and China, in all other regions the in-house Exynos 9810 is to do its work in the devices. In the S9 Plus, this should be supported by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. In the smaller S9 it should be “only” 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Possible prices for both devices have not yet appeared anywhere. What should already be certain is that both devices will be available from March 16.

Hello, a mistake in your article. Emoji means “emojis” in plural, “emojies” is completely wrong.

Christopher

Oh god, the S9 look ugly. I have never seen such an unsightly dual camera as with Samsung.
Since the Apple has solved a lot better.
