The OnePlus 6: Slightly more expensive and still a flagship killer

The new high-end smartphone from OnePlus was presented today. Although the price increases slightly, it can still be sat by a flagship killerprobecome. Because for 519 euros, the OnePlus 6 can easily keep up with significantly more expensive flagships. Hardware, design and software are, as usual from OnePlus, typical for high-end devices.

The hardware
The camera
If you look at the back of the device, you immediately think of older OnePlus devices and not without reason. The two cameras on the back are again placed in the middle and vertically. Not much has changed on the camera itself, but the 16-megapixel photos should look better. The reason for this is the 19th Procent larger image sensor, which allows an aperture of up to f/1.7. The second camera triggers with 20MP and, according to OnePlus, should be used primarily for a good bokeh effect. To take selfies, the OnePlus 6 offers a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Below the cameras on the back is a flash and a fingerprint sensor if you don't want to use the fast face recognition.
For everyone who likes to shoot videos with their cell phone, an image stabilizer is now also on board. It is also possible to record 4K videos with 60 frames pro Second and slow motion recordings with 480 frames pro create second.
The back of the glass
Probably the biggest change in the external appearance is the material of the back. While metal was used previously, Gorilla Glass 5 is now used. The colors mirror black, midnight black and silk white are available. It is important to mention, however, that not all colors are available for all specifications. But more on that later. The two black tones have a film that is incorporated under the back of the glass. This should create depth effects and reflections in wave form and give the smartphone a classy look. OnePlus trades the silky white model as a limited edition.
the display
The display is now 6,28 inches and comes with a notch. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei described this as a technical and not an aesthetic decision. This made it possible to enlarge the display without making the device bigger. The dimensions are almost identical to the OnePlus 5t. The resolution of the AMOLED display is 2280 by 1080 pixels, the aspect ratio is 19:9. Should an app or a user enter a ProIf you have problems with the notch, you can hide the upper area with a black bar.
Proprocessor, memory and battery
The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 (octa-core; clock speed up to 845 GHz) and the Adreno 2,8 graphics chip work in the OnePlus 630. The main memory is 6 GB in the cheaper model and 8 GB in the more expensive model. The non-expandable storage space is either 64GB or 256GB. The device is powered by a 3300mAh battery so that you can get through a day even with intensive use. OnePlus promises a medium dash charge hereproprocess of 30 minutes. Wireless charging is not planned, although the new glass back would have made it possible. Like the previous models, the latest model also supports dual sim for two nano sim cards.
The software
The OnePlus 6 is delivered with Android 8.1. But it is already possible to download the demo from Android P. Oxygen OS is placed over pure Android again. However, this is based on Stock Android and offers smooth use. As already mentioned, there is face recognition through the software. Like the fingerprint sensor, this should unlock the device quickly and easily. The black bar to deactivate the notch is also controlled by the software. Thanks to the good black value of the AMOLED displays, this black bar shouldn't be noticeable either.
Availability and prices
According to the manufacturer, the device will be available in North America and Europe from May 22, 2018. Then you will be able to purchase the device on Amazon in addition to the OnePlus homepage. Here is an overview of the models and their prices:
