Withings Body Cardio: Pulse wave speed measurement comes back

At the beginning of last year, the main function of the Withings Body Cardio was deactivated in Europe under the Nokia brand. According to statements made at the time, this would have required approval. Now the function comes back with an update.

Withings is currently completely in the hands of the old CEO Eric Carreel. He has recently followed up on the promise to reintroduce this function. For this reason, this has been checked again. After working with the authorities, it has now been decided that the function does not require any further approval.

Withings Body Cardio: Update is coming today

The update will come later in the day. “I am pleased to keep my promise to our customers and to be able to inform them of the reintroduction of the PWG function for Body Cardio initially in Europe. We believe that this feature will help people improve their health over the long term with the right tools, ”said Eric Carreel, Withings CEO.

Since the scale is WiFi-enabled, it should have downloaded the update today. If you synchronize your Withings Cardio with Bluetooth, you must first connect it to the app and then download the update. If you don't get a pulse wave speed displayed tonight when you weigh in, you can manually download the update in the Health Mate app under "Devices" -> "Body Cardio" -> "Settings" -> "Check for updates". Here you should find the software version 1811 after the approximately two minute update.

We already have itprobet - the measurement of the PWG only works after you have weighed yourself at least five times.

The smart WiFi scale is currently around 100 euros at Amazon or directly in the Withings online shop to have. Don't be confused by the Nokia logo - this one and the scale with the Withings logo do not differ.

What is the pulse wave speed?

The pulse wave speed describes the speed of propagation of the wave caused by the heartbeat in the blood along the arteries. An increased value can indicate arterial stiffness and thus mean an increased risk of high blood pressure. Conversely, the following applies: the more elastic the arteries, the healthier the heart.

Withings has also published a corresponding video on the YouTube channel. Have a look for yourself - you'll find it right below.
