tl;dr: Really first class.
Of course, for an RRP of 199 euros (including 19% VAT in Germany), in-ears these days have to offer a lot of functions and, above all, sound quality in order to do justice to the very high price. The Freebuds do this Pro 3 definitely in my opinion. Regardless of whether it's noise canceling or in conversations where you have to listen, the in-ears either completely enclose you in your music world or you can really understand what other people are saying to you without taking them out of your ears. In addition, they fit perfectly, at least in my ears, with the standard ear tips. However, pressing the earpiece stem to operate it is a bit tricky for the first time. I definitely find the swiping gestures from other manufacturers, the Freebuds, more successful Pro Of course, 3 also have swipe gestures, but probably only for adjusting the volume.
Nevertheless, the Freebuds offer Pro 3 in addition to excellent noise canceling and good permeability mode also the most important thing. Namely very good sound. However, you can't achieve this out of the box because I personally found the standard equalizer a bit too flat. I like it with a little more depth, but that's not it at all Proproblem, because in the Huawei AI Life app, which you have to install via APK. Is there an equalizer that you can adjust for yourself to your heart's content. So it's almost possible to play any genre of music without it Proproblems to enjoy on the headphones.
Telephone functionality & hands-free calling
By the way, making calls works with the Freebuds Pro 3 also extremely reliable and stable. During my test period, the other end was always able to understand me very clearly, even when I was walking along a busy street outside. No ProIncidentally, there were also problems when pairing with multiple devices, as this is also supported. This means you can pair your laptop and your cell phone with the in-ears at the same time to quickly switch back and forth between the two devices. This also worked very reliably during my testing period. So to keep it short, if you're looking for a last minute Christmas present, you should look for the Huawei Freebuds Pro 3 look around. You can probably get them for 99 euros in common online shops, which would be a really good deal.

How does the app work? Huawei AI Life explained.
The app for the Freebuds Pro 3 is a bit difficult to obtain for the layman to say the least. It is not available in the Google Play Store because it comes from Huawei. Therefore, you either have to install the Huawei App Gallery or you download the AI Life app as an .apk and then install it. Of course, if you've done this several times before, no Proproblem. Still, it's not really as smooth an out-of-the-box experience as you'd get, for example. B. has almost pair devices with Google. Especially the Pixel Buds of the A series etc., of course, one would expect better integration with pure Huawei smartphones. Here you can download the app directly from the browser version of the App Gallery.
The app itself is simple, you choose the Freebuds Pro 3 and you are directly on an overview page where all important information such as the battery status of the left and right earphones and the charging case are displayed. You can also trigger a search function for the individual earbuds and even the charging case. Because the charging case itself has an integrated speaker for confirmation tones. Back to the app, the previously mentioned equalizer is also available there for selection with preselected ones Profile or the “Custom” option. You can also select the noise canceling modes there; everything important can be selected quickly and easily between completely off and transparent and full shielding. Of course, there are also updates via over-the-air with the Freebuds Pro 3, fortunately these simply run even when not in use, so you don't have to worry about them.
