Vivo X60 Pro 5G review: Unboxing and first impression

The Chinese manufacturer Vivo started with the last year X51 5G endlich Europe It was certainly convincing in our test, but the recommended retail price of 799 euros was far too high for what it offered. Now the successor, the Vivo X60 Pro 5G, is on the market and is said to bring some improvements.
There is finally a high-end processor under the hood, the display supports 120 Hertz and Vivo is also said to have improved the camera. The recommended retail price of 799 euros seems a bit too high here, but compared to its predecessor, the price of the X60 Pro is more justifiable. You will find out how it performs in everyday life and whether it can keep up with other smartphones in this price range in my detailed test report in a few weeks. Now I'm unpacking the X60 Pro and will then report on my first impressions after a few days of use.
Vivo X60 Pro 5G: Unboxing
From the outside, the box looks quite high-quality and large when you touch it. On the front is the product name and the ZEISS logo, because Vivo worked with ZEISS on the camera to deliver even better results. Once you have removed the lid, the first thing you see is the smartphone, which is still covered in a film to protect it from scratches. There is even another film attached on which you can read a conversation between Vivo and SCHOTT, who make the glass. In addition to the X60 Pro itself, the delivery also includes a 33 watt power supply, a USB-C to USB-A cable, headphones and various attachments, a jack to USB-C adapter and the usual paper stuff. A case is also included and the glass on the front is protected by a pre-installed protective film.

Vivo X60 Pro 5G first impression
Even though there are a few things that have struck me as negative in everyday life, such as the vibration motor, the loudspeaker or the lack of wireless charging, the Vivo X60 Pro 5G left a very positive first impression after a few days of use. Starting with the design, which has been consistently continued compared to its predecessor. The frame is made of metal and is relatively resistant to fingerprints due to the matte surface. It also feels very high-quality and is perfectly rounded, which means that there is no sharp-edged feeling in the hand. The matte back is made of glass and looks Midnight Black very chic. Added to this is the relatively light weight of 179 grams and the thickness of only 7,6 mm. The combination of these numbers, the matt glass back and the matt metal frame ensures an extremely high quality and comfortable feeling in the hand. Vivo is at the forefront here and does not have to hide from competitors.
Next, let's look at the front page. A large 6,56 inch OLED panel is used here, which is only interrupted by a centrally located punch hole and supports a fluid refresh rate of 120 Hertz. The bezels around the screen are pleasantly thin, as I would expect for the price offered. With Full HD +, the display has a slightly lower resolution than some of the other competitors, but it is okay. So far, the display has made a very good first impression: colors, brightness and viewing angle stability can really be seen so far.
One of my biggest criticisms of the Vivo X51 5G was the Snapdragon 765G processor, which had absolutely no place in the recommended retail price of 799 euros. It was definitely not a bad processor, but you could have expected a lot more for the price. It now seems as if Vivo has taken this criticism to heart, because the X60 Pro uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, which is currently one of the most powerful smartphone processors. This is exactly what you notice in everyday life. I really like the performance so far and it is definitely appropriate for the price. Thanks to the smooth refresh rate of 120 Hertz, animations also run more smoothly.
I have also taken a few pictures with the camera in the last few days, which were definitely convincing. What is particularly noticeable is the visibly improved color rendering compared to its predecessor. The night mode sometimes delivers impressive results, but often fails a bit. Vivo could possibly improve this a little with future software updates. The 2-fold telephoto lens delivers very good photos, but I'm still disappointed because the X51 still had a 5-fold optical zoom. For me absolutely incomprehensible and a clear step backwards.
These were my first impressions of the new Vivo X60 Pro 5G so far. In my detailed review in a few weeks, we will take a much closer look at the smartphone and also compare it with other devices.
