Casio WSD-F30: New generation of outdoor smartwatch presented
Casio, a manufacturer of outdoor watches, presented the Casio WSD-F30, a robust smartwatch with Wear OS, at the IFA. You have to know that about the watch.
Also this year very robust and waterproof
The WSD-F30 is smaller than its two predecessors - but you are still using a larger-than-average watch here. More precisely, it is the largest smartwatch with Wear OS as the operating system.
You can tell immediately from the look that this watch is a Casio smartwatch. That means that the design has hardly changed at all. The case of the watch is waterproof to 5ATM and protected against almost any kind of physical impact in accordance with the military standard MIL-STD-810G. The smartwatch bracelet is completely new. It's now more flexible and has more holes so it's easier to find the size that's right for you.
Despite the large case, the battery life of one and a half days in normal use is only very average. But there are two tricks that can be used to squeeze out more usage time. In Extend Mode, as Casio calls it, you only have access to an offline map and you can record routes via GPS. Here you can expect a term of up to three days. If you only use the second display, which I'll get to in a moment, you don't have to recharge the watch until after a month, according to the manufacturer.
Wear OS as the operating system and two displays
The WSD-F30 is compatible with the TicWatch Pro one of the few smartwatches that have two displays. This is a monochrome LCD panel that deactivates itself during normal smartwatch operation. The normal display, however, is an OLED panel with a resolution of 390 × 390 pixels. The Casio WSD-F30 Wear OS runs as the operating system. There was even a demo version at the fair of the upcoming update preinstalled.
Information on prices or availability is not yet available. The smartwatch will probably be available from mid-September.
A great watch. Hopefully this will also be available in Switzerland soon ...
I'm sure that she'll be coming to Switzerland soon too.
