The upcoming Apple Watch 3 should finally become independent. Until now, a constantly connected iPhone was necessary for use. This means that in future you would no longer have to permanently connect them to the smartphone in order to be able to use them optimally.

Who Bloomberg and Wall Street Journal now report, the latest edition of the Apple Watch should get its own SIM slot. This should make the watch more independent of the iPhone and thus also function independently. Since the change has to create space, the Watch 3 is supposed to get a new design. These are rumors, so this is not officially confirmed.

Larger battery required for LTE chip

With the LTE chip, however, there is a Proproblem: the mobile radio chip needs a lot of battery. The battery will thus become larger and the smartwatch will grow in order to be able to supply more energy. Unlike smartphones, according to Bloomberg, however, Intel should provide the chips. A chip from Qualcomm is usually used in smartphones. There is still no answer to the question why this should be the case.

Since the release of the first generation Apple Watch, there have been ideas about installing a mobile chip. However, there was always Proproblems with space and signal strength, so this idea was discarded. In addition to the Huawei Watch 2 and LG Watch Urbane LTE it would be the third smartwatch with LTE on the market. Even if it is not of interest to Android users due to its incompatibility, it is sometimes one of the best-selling Wearables cost worldwide.

As long as Apple does not make the smartwatch compatible with Android, I refrain from doing it. Even Android Wear runs with the iPhone, but not the other way around.
