Apple Pay is due to start in Austria on Wednesday

After the Start of Apple Pay in Germany Paying with smartphones and smartwatches is becoming increasingly popular. Now the payment service is also starting in Austria - tomorrow.
At the end of March, some Austrian banks had the Launch of Apple Pay announced in Austria. Like the daily newspaper "Der Standard" and "oe24“Now report, according to their own information, the service should start tomorrow in Austria. This date seems pretty realistic - besides, all shops in Austria are fairly modern. Paying with the smartphone is not a difficult task in Austria, like me already tested here have.
Apple Pay in Austria: These banks will be there at the start
For the start of the payment service, Apple brought Erste Bank und Sparkasse and the online bank N26 on board. With Boon it will also be possible to pay using Apple Pay in Austria. Other banks are currently unknown at the start - these should follow in the course of this year. Since pretty much all terminals in Austria are equipped with NFC, nothing stands in the way of the introduction.
Apple Pay is supported by all merchants who currently support contactless payment with the card. Many shops in Austria are already equipped with NFC terminals. With Apple Pay, a PIN code is no longer required for payment, authentication is via Face ID or Touch ID. In addition, the merchant no longer receives a card number, but only a generated "token" - a unique character string that applies once to this payment.
Exact sources for this information are not given. Nevertheless, it is good to hear that paying with smartphones is slowly gaining ground in Austria as well. Unfortunately, Android users are still unable to use their smartphones to pay, and this was also the case a few weeks ago Boon set for Austria became. The Google payment service Google Pay is unfortunately still pending - so far there is no information about the start. In Germany this is already started - at that time before Apple Pay.
Don't have an EiFone, just an AndroidFone and now wait for Google Pay.
What do you think?
I mean it won't start tomorrow.
Why not? There is nothing against it. We have everything.
Source to whom a source is due. So heard oe24 mentioned above, they were the first.
Thanks for the hint - it's done. 🙂
The standard has mostly reliable sources. There is something to it.
No sources = not verified
So that means nothing.
We'll know more tomorrow 😉
Due to the embargo (contract of secrecy), banks are not officially allowed to announce anything on the launch date, so there are never and have never been sources when Apple Pay was launched.
If it is true, Apple Pay could actually start tomorrow 🙂
Also posted oe24 today before DerStandard.
I still don't believe this rumor ... there are no sources whatsoever.
