At the IFA in Berlin there is a small Bixby stand in the middle of the exhibition center. There, trade fair visitors can use Bixby in German to ask for directions to an exhibitor. We have that tooprobet – first impression: Oh dear.

Short IFA news By the way: As we walked through the halls, we noticed the eye-catching Bixby poster with the inscription “Do you speak Bixby?”. There you have the opportunity to ask Bixby a few questions and to be shown or told the way to the respective exhibitor. Did that work?

Doesn't really work yet

The German Bixby voice sounds a bit strange. A little artificial, to be honest. Then the first question for "Hi Bixby, where is the way to Samsung" didn't work on the first two attempts either. Again and again the tone that Bixby would not have understood this question.

Bixby in German is coming in early 2019

Upon request, we were informed that Bixby would be available in German at the end of this year or early 2019 at the latest. It is still unclear whether this will really be a reality. But it doesn't seem to be really mature at this point in time. Most questions took a few seconds to get a reasonable answer.

So it remains to be seen whether the set date will be kept and Bixby will be brought to us in German. Not only this innovation will be presented at the IFA 2018 from Samsung. So Samsung has it first 8K television together with the new "The Wall" presented.
