Some time ago there was a data breach on Facebook that made it possible to read user data. The hackers have now leaked this data - it seems that it could affect almost any user. You have published phone number, name, place of residence (and previous place of residence), date of birth and much more.

Like Alon Gal via Twitter reported, Facebook users have a huge Proproblem Personal data of over 530 million Facebook users has now landed on the Internet. According to the tweet, hackers are said to have captured this data in early 2020, Facebook speaks of data from August 2019. Does that sound familiar to you? As early as April 2019, Facebook was due to published user data in the headlines.

Facebook data package with a lot of personal data

According to Alon Gal, CTO of Hudson Rock, a cyber security firm, there is a lot in that data packet lots of personal data. Phone number, Facebook ID, full name, city, previous city, date of birth, email addresses, account creation date, relationship status, employer and bio (Profile description). More than 1,2 million users from Austria and 6 million from Germany are said to be among the data. It is very likely that your own user data is also included.

Facebook spricht of data from an older security vulnerability, which is said to have been closed in August 2019. But that doesn't make the situation any better: After all, who regularly changes their place of residence or telephone number, let alone their name? Otherwise, the company has not commented on this. These data are said to have been on sale since the beginning of this year, but now they can be found in their entirety - at no additional cost - in various forums on the Internet. A total of over 530 million user data is now online. These could be used for social engineering or identity theft.

Am I affected by the Facebook data breach myself?

The website "have I been pwned?“Has already imported this fraudulent data. There, after entering your email address, you can safely check whether you were part of the published data. However, this query only works very rarely, as there are very few e-mail addresses in the leak. However, if you had a phone number on file for August 2019, the chance of being in the leak is very high. TechnikNews has already been able to verify some of these data sets itself.

By the way, in this guide we show you how to make your own Delete Facebook account completely can. However, Facebook only seems to take this seriously to a limited extent, as the data package also contained accounts that had already been deleted.
