After a few months of silence, HUAWEI is finally back on the smartphone market, because at IFA 2022 they presented the HUAWEI nova 10 and 10 Pro two new smartphones that are located in the upper class.

With these smartphones, the Chinese manufacturer focuses in particular on the front camera. The design should also convince with an extremely thin and light case.

HUAWEI nova 10 and 10 Pro: Technical specifications

When it comes to the display, there are hardly any differences between the regular nova 10 and the Pro-Model. Both OLED displays support a smooth refresh rate of 120 Hertz and have a slightly sharper resolution of 2.652 x 1.200 pixels than most of the other competitors. The screen is slightly rounded on both sides. There is only a minimal difference in the diagonal, which is hardly noticeable in a direct comparison. While the nova 10 comes with a 6,67 inch display, the panel is in Pro-Model 6,78 inches tall.

The Snapdragon 778G from Qualcomm works under the hood, but it has to do without a 5G modem due to US sanctions. There is also 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The in-house user interface EMUI in version 12 is used as the software. There are again a few differences in the battery, both in terms of capacity and charging speed. The battery in the HUAWEI nova 10 only holds 4.000 mAh, in the nova 10 Pro on the other hand 4.500 mAh. It is charged with up to 66 watts or with up to 100 watts Promodel, which is extremely impressive.

A triple camera is used as the camera setup, consisting of a 50 megapixel RYYB main sensor, an 8 megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor and a depth sensor with 2 megapixels. The 60 megapixel front camera, which is only available on the nova 10, is responsible for selfies Pro supported by an 8 megapixel portrait camera.

Our first impression

Our first impression of the new nova series is a bit mixed, because on the one hand these devices are beautiful, thin and light high-end smartphones with a promising front camera, but on the other hand there are compared to the new 9 no big changes. Especially when Prozessor, which is by no means bad, we would have expected a little more and this typical 8 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera can even be found in much cheaper devices. An upcoming test report will show whether the new nova 10 smartphones can convince us.

Unfortunately, HUAWEI does not yet give any official prices and does not give any information about a possible release date.
