Today's Apple event wasn't just about new hardware. Apple also announced the release date for iOS 14 and iPadOS 14.

From tomorrow you can install iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 on your iPhone and iPad. The update can be carried out as usual via the settings. The new software versions are compatible with all iPhones from iPhone 6S (including iPhone SE 2016 and iPod touch 7) and with all iPads from iPad Air 2. You can find a detailed list of the devices here.

iOS 14 and iPadOS 14: The most important new features

Probably the biggest innovations in iOS 14 can be found on the homescreen. There is now the App Library and completely new widgets. In the App Library you can park apps that you don't need that often and therefore don't need directly. This should ensure more order on the start screen itself. The new widgets can still be in the "Today" view or placed on the home screen.

Some apps in iPadOS 14 get a new design. This looks a lot more modern than the old one, and for music, for example, the tab bar is replaced by a sidebar. The Apple Pencil also gets new features. It is now possible to write in text fields with the pen and convert what has been written into text.

Finally, it remains to be said that you should not worry if the updates do not appear immediately. Waiting helps here.
