LG VELVET 5G presented: The smartphone with a giant display and dual screen
Besides new notebooks A few weeks ago, LG presented the VELVET 5G smartphone today. This should score with a large display, good price-performance ratio in the middle class.
Surprisingly, LG isn't showing a flagship smartphone like that this time around LG V40 ThinQ, but wants to achieve more success again in the mobile phone sector with a mid-range smartphone. The aim is to reach a target group of male and female “fashion-conscious consumers” between their 20s and 30s. They also want to inspire consumers who are “looking for something different” and who are looking for an excellent price-performance ratio. Will that work?

The POLED display of the LG VELVET 5G is 6,8 inches and has a resolution of FullHD + in 20,5: 9 format. This is interrupted by a notch on the top, where the selfie camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels is located. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 765 with 5G module together with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded with microSD. The LG VELVET not only looks big, it is big too: with dimensions of 167,2 x 74,1 x 7,9 mm and a weight of 180 grams, it is one of the larger models.
On the back we find a triple camera with 48 MP, 8 MP (wide angle up to 120 degrees) and a 5 MP depth sensor. As a speaker there is the so-called "LG 3D Sound System", which - as the name suggests - is supposed to offer a 3D sound experience together with the stereo speakers. On top of that there is a Google Assistant button on the side, a camera with AI functions. In order for the VELVET 5G to last as long as possible, there is a 4300 mAh battery that supports 25 W Fast Charging and 9 W Wireless Charging. Android 10 is used as software.
A DualScreen is also available as an accessory for the LG VELVET 5G. This can simply be plugged in and then offers another 6,8 inch FHD + display. This can be folded up to 360 degrees and is connected to the other smartphone via USB-C - the connection is, however, located directly in the case so that there are no cables. You can also control the DualScreen with a pen.
The LG VELVET 5G is priced at 599 euros and should start this month. We'll be using the smartphone shortly too TechnikNews take a closer look.
