Samsung Gear Icon X 2018: All specs, information and price
All good things come in threes. Samsung thinks that too and brings with it Gear Sport and the GearFit 2 Pro also fresh fitness headphones for IFA 2017 in Berlin. These are the brand new headphones from Samsung.

Form factor and charging case
The Gear Icon X look very similar to their predecessors. This year, too, they do not require any cables and are made of plastic. In order to be able to transport these headphones, a charging case in the matching color was included. Apropos Color: The charging case and headphones are available in black, gray and pink. The headphones are also lighter than last year's Gear Icon X. A touchpad for gesture control was also installed on the right earbud.
Specs
The new Samsung headphones are connected to your own smartphone via Bluetooth. A pulse sensor and an accelerometer were built into the sensors. GPS is missing, but I expected that. Music can also be stored on the 4GB internal memory. Therefore, if you want to do without GPS, you can go for a run without a smartphone. If you add up the battery capacity of both headphones, you get around 160mAh, which gives seven hours of running time. The charging case brings two full extra charges.
Software
When it comes to integrated software, Samsung is taking a similar approach to Apple. Bixby has been installed on the Gear Icon X. Exactly the Bixby that still doesn't understand a word of the German language. And supposedly no other assistant should be available that can be started directly from the headphones. A running assistant has been integrated into the headphones for all runners, which supposedly can give tips for better running. Workouts are documented in the S Health app. In addition, the X icons also recognize which sport you are currently practicing.
Conclusion
The Gear Icon X definitely do everything right. They are clearly ahead of the AirPods. For example, as far as I know, only Bragi in The Dash offer internal storage. There are also more touch gestures available than with the Apple headphones. But they're not worth the price to me.
Samsung is asking €229 for their new headphones. That's the same amount as for the Gear Fit 2 Pro is, in my view, bordering on a better joke. It's a shame, but none of us can change it.
But they look pretty awesome! The price is a joke though.
Hi simon! I feel the same way. I would love to have these headphones, only the price is too high for me.
