Snapchat now in a new design

Snapchat is a well-known image and video messenger, which is becoming more and more popular thanks to constant innovations such as the "Lenses" and the Bitmoji stickers. In addition to the "self-destruction" of the sent media after a self-selected interval between 1 and 10 seconds, another feature of Snapchat was a sleek and simple design.

The design was continuously developed and the "Discovery" page was added, which serves as the primary source of profit for the free messenger by providing external content from advertising partners. Today the US startup released an update of its apps in which the design of its was completely renewed and is now focusing on the discovery channels, i.e. on its main source of income. In addition to the introduction of shortcuts at the bottom of each screen, the stories page was renewed and built in the tile style known from Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10 for the live and discovery content.

In addition, the opportunity has now been given to “subscribe” to one's favorite content provider such as CNN by holding down the tile, ie to highlight their content once again under the stories of friends. Other Discovery content, and also the one you have subscribed to, is always present in a card spinner beneath your own story. The list view of the stories of friends has remained so far, although an update could possibly follow there, which in turn would make the highlighting of the external content void. However, users who only use the chat on Snapchat and are reluctant to change can breathe a sigh of relief because nothing has been changed there so far. In the chat area, however, we do not see any potential for design changes and therefore do not expect any there.

The new design will certainly be a shock to many Snapchat users at first and will take a lot of time to get used to, but I personally think you will get used to it. In addition, it can be assumed that the design will continue to be adapted and changed slightly in order to eliminate any deficiencies and user complaints.
