OnePlus 6 will probably come with a notch
Granted, 2018 will go down as the year of the notch. As current leaks suggest, the latest OnePlus 6 should also be equipped with a gap at the top of the display. In addition, there were clear indications of an upcoming notch in the latest version of OnePlus OxygenOS this week. For example, the time has already been set to the left - so that the middle becomes free. This change would actually only be planned with the notch support of Android P. Xiaomi and Huawei are also planning a smartphone with a notch.
Snapchat is making a mistake again
After the pretty much rollout of the pretty unpopular new Snapchat design Snapchat allowed itself the next glitch this week. This time not directly with the user, but two stars were upset this week. An advertisement with a vote appeared in English-speaking regions. You can choose whether you prefer to beat Rihanna or Chris Brown. So it was a hit for PR and the stars themselves. The survey also went viral on Twitter. And the stock continues to decline.
These are the most power-hungry apps on Android
Avast released a report this week of the apps with the most power consumption on Android smartphones. The usual suspects are there again: the Samsung and Google services consume the most power according to this list. The apps not only run in the foreground, but also remain in the background after closing. The Samsung AllShare service needs the most background battery; Facebook is represented in 6th place. In the foreground, in addition to Snapchat, the fourth place needs the Netflix app and the first place requires the “Beaming Service” from Samsung. There is the whole report here as PDF.
New fitness trackers from Fitbit
By the way, Fitbit presented two new fitness trackers this week. First the new Fibit Versa, which is supposed to be more of a smartwatch than a fitness tracker. They advertise water resistance up to 50m and a battery life of 4 days. From 199 euros is the Fitbit versa available - pre-order starts now. There is also a fitness tracker for children: the Fitbit ace is similar to the compact Fitbit Alta, but mainly intended for children. This means that it is waterproof, and parents can also follow the child's activities in the app. At 100 euros, this is one of the cheapest fitness trackers from Fitbit, but it also has fewer functions than the other trackers.
