Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro presented: All specs, details and prices of the new flagships

Huawei officially unveiled the Mate 20, Mate 20, at an event in London this afternoon Pro and the gaming smartphone Mate 20X presented to the public. This year the Mate comes with a notch and a fingerprint sensor in the display for the first time.
Already beforehand there were already pretty accurate pictures and details of both flagships. Actually there are three: There is also a Huawei Mate 20 Porsche Edition. To the Mate 20X there were also some details - but a separate article will follow later. This article is therefore about all the details and specs for the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. Very cool: This year the Mate 20 is also coming to Germany and Austria.
Mate 20: Mini-Notch, but bigger
It's hard to believe: the Huawei Mate 20 is actually smaller than that Pro-Model. The Mate 20 offers a 6,53-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2240 x 1080 pixels (QHD+). The latest octa-core is now under the hood Kirin 980 Processor with AI, integrated GPU and two neural Proprocessor cores (NPU) together with 4 GB of RAM. The internal memory is 128 GB, expandable up to 256 GB with a nano memory card, Huawei's own memory card technology. Together with the so-called "Nano Memory Card Slot", the cards should offer a lot more speed. So you should probably achieve read speeds of up to 90 MB/s.

When it comes to cameras, the Mate 20 is kind of like that P20 Pro equipped: The front camera is a 24 megapixel lens. The monochrome sensor of the P20 Pro Huawei is now swapping it for an ultra-wide-angle sensor. The triple camera on the back also consists of 12 megapixels (wide angle, f/1.8), 16 megapixels (ultra wide angle, f/2.2) and 8 megapixels (telephoto, f/2.4, OIS). There is also a 4000 mAh battery, which can be charged to 30 minutes in 70 minutes thanks to the new Huawei SuperCharge Procan be charged cent. Charging with QI is not possible with the Mate 20 despite the glass back. The fingerprint sensor is also located on the back under the camera. Alternatively, the Mate 20 can also be unlocked with “normal” 2D facial recognition.
The operating system is Android 9.0 with the in-house EMUI interface in version 9. This is now finally slimmer and closer to stock Android. In addition, the Mate 20 is also equipped with a Cat. 16 receivers, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1 and a dual SIM slot (or a SIM and nano memory slot). Unlike the Mate 20 Pro the Mate 20 even has a 3,5mm jack on the top. It is also waterproof and dustproof according to IP53.
The Mate 20 costs 799 euros and will be available from us in the colors Twilight, black and green. On Amazon and various dealers can already pre-order it.
Mate 20 Pro: The extra package with Apple notch
The Mate 20 Pro puts one on top: Although the display of the Pro-model with its 6,39 inches smaller than that of the normal version, it still looks huge. Since it also costs more in terms of price, this offers Pro an OLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels (QHD+). In contrast to the slimmed down version, this offers Pro 6 GB of working memory - otherwise this can also be expanded from its 128 GB internal memory to 256 GB with a nano SD card (yes, Huawei now also has nano SD cards).

The camera arrangement is exactly the same as the Mate 20, but offers a higher number of megapixels. There is a 40 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP, f/1.8 + f/2.2 + f/2.4 triple camera here. Thanks to the 4200 mAh battery and the option for wireless charging, the Mate 20 Pro also charge other devices through reverse charging. Again, there is Android 9.0, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1, even Cat. 21, but no jack plug. However, this is even waterproof and dustproof according to IP68.
A very special feature remains with the Mate 20 Pro Reserved. This can be unlocked with the fingerprint sensor integrated into the display or with the new 3D face recognition. Apple also uses a similar face unlocking method for the latest iPhone models.
