There was a lot going on this week: The Huawei event in Paris, Apple presented a new iPad and the Messenger Telegram had an outage. We have that and more in this issue of TechnikNews Weekly summarized.

Huawei event in Paris

On March 27th in Paris the new P20 series from Huawei was presented. This year, this again includes three devices, the P20 lite, the normal P20 and the P20 Pro. The display of the normal P20 is 5,8 inches, has a resolution of FHD+ and, like the other smartphones of the new generation, has a notch. as ProThe Kirin 970 with the in-house AI chip is used as processor, which is supported by 4GB RAM.

On the P20 and the P20 Pro run Android 8.1 with EMUI 8.1. With the cheap P20 lite, you unfortunately still have to get by with Android 8.0 and EMUI 8.0. The memory of the P20 is up to 128GB, the battery has a capacity of 3400mAh. The dual camera has a resolution of 20MP and 12MP each, while you can take selfies with 24MP. With the Huawei P20 Pro we are talking about a 6,1-inch OLED display, also with an FHD+ resolution. At the Processor, the Kirin 970 was also chosen here, the RAM is 20GB compared to the P6, the memory can also be used with the P20 Pro up to 128GB in size. The battery is the same as in the Huawei Mate 10 Pro 4000mAh big. The P20 Pro is the first smartphone with a triple camera, with the resolutions we are talking about 40MP, 20MP and 8MP. The front camera has a resolution of 24MP. As a price, Huawei calls an RRP of 899 euros, the smartphone will also be available from the beginning of April.

Huawei P20 Lite

The Huawei P20 lite is the cheapest device in the group. Just like the normal P20, the display is 5,8 inches and also has a resolution of FHD+, the notch is also available here. In the smartphone performs the middle classprocessor Kirin 659 with 4GB RAM. The memory is a maximum of 64GB, with the battery we are talking about 3000mAh. Deactivate notch on the new Huawei devices

I just mentioned that the new Huawei devices have a notch. But this is not for everyone, as it turned out with the release of the iPhone X. Therefore you can make the notch "invisible" from Android 8.1 with EMUI 8.1. The associated setting item "Notch" can be found in the settings under the sub-item "Display". Now the area to the right and left of the recess is colored black, only the status indicators remain visible.

Notch for the OnePlus 6 confirmed

An interesting article was published by The Verge this week. As the first technology blog, they received an official picture from OnePlus, which shows the Oneplus 6. With a notch. A rumor of the last few weeks has thus come true. In addition, The Verge wrote in their article that the presence of a jack plug is quite likely, which is underpinned by the leak from Evan Blass.

New iPad presented

Parallel to the Huawei event, Apple presented a new iPad in a high school in Chicago. The entry-level iPad 2018. With this device, Apple wants to appeal to students and teachers in particular, since the device is comparatively cheap at a starting price of 349 euros (only 299 euros for schools). The display is 9,7 inches and is the first to support non- Pro iPad the Apple Pencil, which you have to buy extra for €99. Inside, the in-house A10 - Fusion does its job, typically Apple does not have any information about the RAM. The memory ranges from 32GB to 128GB, and the camera has a resolution of 8MP.

Failure of the Telegram server

This time, on March 29 around 11am, Telegram had it with them Protrouble to fight. Users could neither send nor receive messages. Europe and part of Russia were affected this time. The cause, as it turned out later in the day, was a power outage in Telegram's data center. After about three hours everyone was there Proproblem fixed again.

Snapchat Map Explore with the recent activity of his friends

The Snapchat Map has been around for a while now. Now this one has been given an update. You can now see in a feed below the map what friends have done in the last 24 hours. So things like: "Person XY took a train from A to B". In addition to this, events in the vicinity are also displayed with the friends who are currently there. We don't officially have the feature yet, you need the latest Snapchat beta and you have to set the language to English. It is also important that you have activated location sharing.

Attachment: The new update will now be officially distributed to the first users in Austria and Germany.
