TechnikNews Weekly # 084: New Instagram messenger "Threads", new Surface laptops, Surface smartphones from Microsoft and more
The first week of the Techtobber is over and like every Sunday we look at the TechnikNews Weekly back to your favorite news. Microsoft takes the bulk of the news with the Surface event.
This week Microsoft dominated the tech world and Instagram surprised with a Snapchat competitor. We have in this TechnikNews Weekly among other things this news for you.
Microsoft Surface Event
Microsoft held their annual fall event, in which they not only presented the 2019 Surface devices, but also presented us with two devices for next year. But let's start with the 2019 Surface Products.
The Surface Pro 7 is a pure hardware upgrade compared to Pro 6, but like all new Surface devices, it finally has USB-C. For the first time, the Surface Laptop 3 is available in two sizes (13 and 15 inches), which also involve different hardware. The 13 is based on Intel and the 15 on AMD chips. The Surface Pro X appears to be a design and hardware experiment by Microsoft.
But there was a little surprise for this year, namely the Surface Earbuds. These have a round design and Office 365 integration, with which Word texts can be dictated or Power Points can be translated live.
Now let's move on to the futuresproproducts from Microsoft, which will be available in 2020. Let's start with the Surface Neo.
This is a mixture of tablet and laptop, but foldable. This consists of two separate displays that run with Windows 10 X. We won't get more detailed information until next year.
Then the Windows Phone was revived. Well, Windows Mobile is still dead, but there was still a smartphone. The Surface Duo. This is a foldable smartphone on which a mixture of Windows and Android appears to be running. Further information will not be available until next year.
