Xiaomi Mi 8: The cheaper iPhone X presented
Yesterday, Xiaomi presented a new fitness tracker at an event in Shenzen, new smartphones. These should bring top hardware for little money. So does the Mi 8: The flagship of the Chinese manufacturer is a clone of the iPhone X - only cheaper.
The smartphone flagship for 2018 at Xiaomi is the Mi 8. The design of the top smartphone is pretty much based on the iPhone X. However, the Xiaomi offshoot is way ahead of Apple's: the price. The Mi 8 costs around 600 euros less. A notch like the one on the iPhone X can also be found on the upper edge of the display. It's all in there.

Xiaomi Mi 8: The Specs
Xiaomi builds in decent hardware for this price. The 6,21-inch display comes with a resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) and AMOLED technology with an 18,7:9 ratio. Inside is a Snapdragon 845 Proprocessor with 6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal memory. Regarding the cameras: As with the iPhone X, the dual camera is arranged vertically on the back of the smartphone. Both lenses take pictures with 12 megapixels each - as already from the Huawei-Smartphones known, there should be an AI for better results with snapshots. The front camera has a resolution of 20 megapixels, which is located in the notch. There are also infrared sensors for face recognition.
A special feature of the Xiaomi Mi 8 is the dual GPS. With the dual frequency band use for GPS, the location should be able to be determined more precisely than ever before - even with poor reception. The battery has a capacity of 3400 mAh, with Quick Charge 4.0. The operating system is based on Android 8.1 and Xiaomi's MIUI 10 surface. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back - there is none in the display. Band 20 is also supported, so you can surf the LTE network with your smartphone.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 with 64GB storage should cost us the equivalent of 360 euros. The model with 128GB costs around 400 euros, for 256GB you add 40 euros. If you compare these prices with the Chinese price of the OnePlus 6 (452 euros), that's a competitive price. The European prices are still unknown. Mi 8 Explorer Edition: Even stronger
In addition, the Xiaomi Mi 8 will also come in a “Pro” variant. The Mi 8 in the Explorer Edition is identical to the one above, but comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There is no fingerprint sensor on the back - it is installed directly on the front of the display. The 3D face recognition should also work even more precisely with the Explorer Edition than with the regular Mi 8. The Explorer Edition also offers a glimpse of the inner workings of the smartphone on the glass back. The first tests have to clarify whether you are only looking at a sticker or directly into the case. Converted, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition should cost around 493 euros.
Wed 8 SE: The slimmed-down flagship
In addition, the Xiaomi flagship will appear as an entry-level version. The manufacturer relies on the battery-saving one here Snapdragon 710 chipset and a battery with a capacity of 3120 mAh. The dual camera on the back should also only resolve in 5 megapixels. On the other hand, the smartphone costs a lot less: it should soon be available for 240 euros.
