Motorola Edge 60 review: Good smartphone, but…

Motorola currently offers an exciting mid-range smartphone, the Motorola Edge 60, which is available for around 300 euros. Particularly impressive are its large 5.200 mAh battery, 68-watt fast charging, and a generous 512 GB of storage.
A telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom is also rather unusual for this price range. Why we can only conditionally recommend this smartphone despite these good features is explained in this short review.
Conclusion on the Motorola Edge 60
The Motorola Edge 60 offers a lot of features for EUR 300 – Strong display, long battery life, and plenty of storage. However, performance weaknesses and limited software detract from its appeal.proProblems and the mixed camera quality detract from the overall impression.
For those seeking a smoother smartphone experience, the POCO X7 Pro offers a better and more affordable alternative. Those with a larger budget should consider the POCO F7. While the Edge 60 is a well-designed device, Xiaomi's offerings are currently a step ahead.
Design and display
The Edge 60 impresses with its slim and handy design. At just 7,9 mm thick and pleasantly lightweight, it fits very comfortably in the hand. The rubberized back provides a secure grip, even if it doesn't feel as premium as glass or metal. Particularly well-executed are the curved display on all sides and the seamlessly integrated camera module. The only drawback is the plastic frame, which looks less elegant.

The 6,67-inch pOLED panel with 2.712 × 1.220 pixels offers a 120 Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and vibrant colors. White and black levels are excellent, and the brightness is sufficient even for sunlight. For its price range, the Edge 60 delivers near-flagship-level performance.
Software, performance and battery
Motorola uses a streamlined Android interface with three major Android updates and four years of security updates. Personally, I'm not a fan of the software. The brightness control is awkwardly placed, the live lock screen often activates by itself, and the search function in the app drawer is cumbersome. However, anyone who's looking for a Pixel smartphone Anyone who comes here will certainly be very happy with the software.
With the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 and 12 GB of RAM, most things run smoothly, but stuttering occurs during startup, in some apps, and with the camera. Competing models like the POCO X7 Pro are cheaper and yet perform better.
The battery has a capacity of 5.200 mAh and can be fully charged in under 50 minutes with the included 68-watt power adapter. That's a good figure, and I think it's great that Motorola is one of the few manufacturers that includes a power adapter. The battery life is also very good. I easily get through a day, and usually even up to two days is no problem. With an average screen-on time of 5 hours, I typically still have about 55 percent battery remaining.
camera
The triple camera consists of:
50 MP main camera (f/1.8, 1/1.56 inch)
50 MP Ultra Wide Angle (122°)
10 MP telephoto camera (3x optical zoom)
In good lighting conditions, the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras deliver decent photos with good dynamic range, even if some details are lost. Colors are vibrant, but not perfectly balanced. In low light, the quality drops noticeably: images appear dark and noisy.
The zoom camera is a nice extra, but disappoints with oversharpened details and unnatural colors. Competing models without a true telephoto camera – like the POCO F7 – often deliver better zoomed-in images via digital zoom. Selfies turn out decently, but could be sharper. Videos appear stabilized and detailed, up to 4K resolution at 30 fps.
Other
Stereo speakers are included and sound good up to medium volume, but become tinny at high volume.
The vibration motor is solid, but not on par with Xiaomi's. On the plus side, the in-display fingerprint sensor works quickly and reliably.
Particularly noteworthy is the IP69 certification, which means the smartphone can also be used for swimming and diving. prosurvives without problems.

To my knowledge, no power supply is included.
