Problems with WhatsApp
WhatsApp also struggled with disruptions on Thursday this week. The whole thing started in the morning around 08:20 a.m., around 8:45 a.m. everything worked as usual. No messages or media could be sent or received during this time. Users worldwide experienced this scenario.
New app for news called Newsadoo
Newsadoo is a new app that arose from the collaboration between the publisher 18th Floor Onlinemedia and the marketing agency Pulpmedia. The goal of these two companies: to build the Spotify for news. For this purpose, messages from various relevant sources are bundled with AI in a central location, the app itself. Newsadoo has two different monthly subscription plans. With the free subscription you have access to all content, but you will be confronted with advertising every now and then. With the paid subscription, you can access the content without advertisements.
Currently only RSS feeds are integrated into Newsadoo, which has the disadvantage that you only see news that the various publishers want to have publicly. But for the future they found another way to get the contributions from the various publishers. David explained this and more in detail in his post.
Notifications in iOS 12
Up until now, it was the case in iOS that notifications were displayed in a long list out of order. That should change with iOS 12. All messages in an app or on a specific topic are now grouped. A grouping looks like a stack. In addition to this, the notification settings for messages from an app can be found directly in the notification of an app. The way to the settings of iOS is no longer necessary. Then Apple has revised the "Do not disturb" mode. You can now set the time after which the mode should automatically deactivate, but it is also possible for “Do not disturb” to switch off when you leave your current location. Finally, you can now set your bedtime. During these times, the mobile phone is switched to mute and the lockscreen is given a black background image.
